on tripping
I sat pixellating still blue
Breezy spring evening on the
Floating porch, new leaves
Left my body for the branch
Across the lawn from the mezzanined
Arrangement between good friends.

Vibrating bark
Indistinguishable tessellating insect
Shapes crawling out of my eyes and into my eyes
And all from across the void
I sat watching myself amongst
Shifty eyed shysters grinning into the increasing darkness.

sang irony
from our hipster hymnals
Forfeiting profit, glorify self destruction
Without aging myself, seventeen on the edge of
our seats were cold clay green plasticine
projected shadows onto the weathering wood
*
the owls lived next door
and on the branches below and above me, -eye
was in their hood, so to speak
softly was best for the sustainability of that climate
of oh yeahs, and isn’t it just so’s
and easy exhalation between our slow paced conversation.
*
Green and glow white brought all manner
Of colors parading in gaily behind them and
We cut and scratched
Our initials into each other’s arms with
Naïve blades that shone sharp in that moonlight
But were just as blunt as we were.
*
-oh and we were!
And the dogs were swimming toward midnight
In the darkening green abyss beneath the tree where
I had stolen away, and onward to morning.
A thousand feet below the lot, they barked Fur Elise
I thought-, and echoed, and chased fireflies and cigarette butts.
